I’ve enjoyed writing for this blog a lot over the past few months but I’m afraid I’m done. For personal reasons I have decided I do not have the time to write for this blog anymore. Goodbye and good luck to the blogs creator.

My Resignation
July 9, 2009The Real Word: July 5th 2009 Edition
July 5, 2009
Yes, I’m back after two weeks off. I would’ve had this for yesterday but I don’t have internet in the tent I slept in so that was impossible. Anyway, for better or worse, I’m back, so lets begin with the blurb and then move on to some questions. Alright, this week’s blurb is going to be about digital distribution. This gets A LOT of coverage in the games media, but not really anywhere else. Now, I don’t want to say bad things about the games media but you people are dirt wrong on this one. Digital distribution is the future, but it’s not the present. It will be at least the next generation of consoles before physical media goes the way of the dinosaurs and disappears. Frankly, the world just doesn’t have the infrastructure to support it now. I live in a place with a surprisingly good broadband connection, and a lot of the cities have them. However, all of those other people who buy their games from Walmart and not GameStop don’t necessarily have the connection speed necessary to make downloading a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Fallout 3 (read: really big game) in a practical amount of time. Further more there are a lot of legal issues that are still to be sorted out with digital downloads. I’m not saying that digital downloads aren’t the future of gaming, they are, I’m just saying calm down people, the future isn’t here yet, and it’s still a long way away. Right, so on to the questions.
Top 10 of the First Half
July 2, 2009
2009 has been thus far one of the best years for video gaming in history. Never before have there been this many good games this quickly. Sure, sales may be down a bit from last year, but I don’t care about sales numbers. What matters to me are the games, and because there are so many games I’m going to rank the top ten PS3 (as in available on PS3, not exclusive to PS3) games of the first half.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Multiplayer Beta Impressions
July 2, 2009
Alright, after a very long wait I finally have the promised Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta impressions article for your reading displeasure. I’ll say this right off the bat, I haven’t played this as much as I would’ve liked, only logging about five and a half hours in it. But, that said, I think that’s enough to have gotten a good grasp on what is going on in the beta. Another thing, this is a beta, so it would be very unfair to critique things like lag (although there was none) and level selection (I only played two in competitive and one in co-op). The beta was available to any of the “early” buyers of inFAMOUS, or those of you lucky enough to get a code from Sony (like me).
