The Last Guy* Review

By playstationgameruk

Now and then, you will find a title on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Live Arcade which you think, heck why not, I’ve not got anything to do this afternoon and I’ve got a bit of change left on my wallet so you download a title. This happened to me last week and i downloaded The Last Guy* and yes I’m glad i did.

The Last Guy

Players 1
Online n/a
Campaign length 2-3 Hours
Release Date Out Now

From the moment you load up The Last Guy (TLG) from your Harddrive the first thing you will notice is the soundtrack. Its wacky and catchy 8-Bit goodness and you will find yourself replaying the same tune in your head for hours after you finish playing.

The Gameplay in TLG is simple, your a ’superhero’ and you have to get people from one point of the map to the other. However the twist in TLG is that the handful of maps you get to play in are taking from Google Maps so you will be running around in actual places from St James Park in Newcastle to San Francisco. The aim is to save as many people as you can and get them to the escape zone before they are attacked by monsters..that’s right monsters.

While you are running from building to building getting people to rescue there will be many types of monsters trying to take you out and wipe out as many of the people you are saving and this is where the challenge comes in, as you progress the monsters become harder as you might expect. I found a neat touch of this game is the crowd, when they spot a monster they will scream and that never gets old.

You are also helped out along the way by items which are placed around the map which will give you abilities for a short period of time.

Overal The Last Guy has turned out to be one of the PlayStation Stores gems, its funny, its challenging, it’s easy to pick up and play and its unique. Once you completed it once, theres plenty of incentive to play it again, as there are VIP’s which you can find for bonus points and the humor the game brings keeps you playing.

What We Loved

-The games Music
-The amount of polish this game has
-Challenging enough to keep even the most die-hard gamer entertained
-The humor the game provides

What We Hated

-Some more levels would be nice.

Overall Verdict – 5 Stars ( What Does This Mean?

The Last Guy really is one of the gems out there on the PlayStation Store, if you haven’t downloaded it already i suggest that you give it a go. You won’t be disappointed.
